A passion for helping - Part 2

Well, it's the beginning of a new season and time to get back into the school year routines.  A fresh start.  I like that about fall.  I think that others feel the same way because for me, it's the best AVON Recruiting time of the year.

There's a few different reasons that people start thinking about selling AVON this time of year.

  1. The holidays are just around the corner and they need the extra cash.
  2. They're a "seasonal" seller.  Rather than sell all year round, some AVON Representatives re-sign this time of year so that they can order AVON at the Representative discount and earn enough by taking orders from friends, co-workers, and family to pay for their personal shopping.  In essence, they're getting to shop for "free".
  3. The last kid has finally started school and mom needs to do something to get out of the house to socialize, but she doesn't want to return to boring 9 to 5 J. O. B.

Whatever your reason, whether it is one of the above, or you're looking for a full-time career, AVON can fit right into your lifestyle.  Determine your goals (make sure they're specific), make a  plan, and follow it.

I enjoy working with my Starseeker Team.  I like helping them set goals and helping them reach them.  I've set my goal to make Senior Executive Leader and I know that they'll help me reach that goal as will any new Representatives I add along the way.  We are a team.

When I'm working with members of my team, I often tell them things like this:

  • Consider doing something different than what you're already doing...think outside the box and outside your comfort zone.
  • When you try something new and it doesn't exactly turn out like you thought it would, that doesn't mean it wasn't a success.  It WAS a success BECAUSE you did something new.  Try it again...a NEW way.

To me, AVON isn't just some hobby at which I "play".  It's how I help support my family.  It's a business and the income helps me pay for groceries, dance lessons, school activities, church offerings and anything else I need just as your 9 to 5 or whatever job helps you pay for what you need.  The only difference is that I'm not working for someone else.  I'm working for me. 

For my team members who want that to be their goal, I want that for them too.  If one of my team members makes the decision to start Leadership tomorrow, by Christmas, she/he will have earned $500 in the Believe in Your Success bonuses.  Then, she/he will continue to earn bonus checks based on unit sales.

As far as I know, I am not aware of any Direct Selling company out there that has only a $10 start-up fee PLUS gives you your own free website PLUS gives your top-of-the-line training tools and the backing of a company that is 126 years old.  When I look back on my 8 years as an Independent AVON Sales Representative and now AVON Recruiter I have to say it was the best $10 I ever spent.

It takes more than AVON Beauty Products for beautiful skin

You might be wondering about the title of this posting since my job is to sell my AVON beauty products to you, my customers. But, if you know me personally, then you also know that I care about my customers. Once you've joined my family of AVON customers, your in my personal space...meaning I want to help you to look your best as much as I can. You deserve more than just looking better; you deserve to feel better too.

I just finished participating in the last weekend of bridal makeovers for the Free Wedding Mission at Celebration Church (http://www.freeweddings.org). It's been a wonderful journey this year, helping brides to look beautiful on their special day. All told, I completed roughly 30 makeovers this year and attended many of those weddings. I hope that God blesses each and everyone of those marriages and that each couple finds themselves more & more in love as the years pass.

There are just a few things I'd like to mention regarding skin care that was driven home to me when doing so many makeovers at one time. I cannot stress enough that these things be considered when undertaking the care of your skin.

The skin is the largest organ of your body. It's an intriguing part of your body when you think about the number of functions it performs, but I won't get into that here.

#1. You are never too young or old to start taking better care of your skin.

#2. You should never be too busy to take care of your skin. Make time. It's important.

#3. Get plenty of sleep. The first place you start to see the effects of not getting enough rest is around your eye area. The eye area is more delicate skin and has less pores to absorb moisture. Eye creams are made specific for this area. If you were painting a room, you wouldn't just paint half of a wall, right?


Not getting enough rest has been linked to lots of different things nowadays, including not being able to achieve weight loss.

#4. Stay hydrated. You'd be surprised at how many people do not drink water.If you do have wrinkles and fine lines, and most of us do, staying hydrated definitely decreases their appearance. While many products contain water, it is NOT the same as drinking water. Caffeine dehydrates your body so if you drink a lot of it, you better double your water intake.


Doing the makeovers all at once like that, seeing mothers living on caffeine and little sleep, I had lots of under eye circles to hide and was definitely able to pick out the ladies who did not drink enough water, just by looking closely at their skin.

#5. Smoking. This definitely makes my top 5 for aging skin. There's more to add to the list, but we can tackle those later. This one definitely makes the top 5 skin aging factors, though.

AVON Networking, Advertising, Marketing.

AVON gives Representatives all the support and tools they need to run our businesses. One of those tools includes our Sales Meetings. They usually occur on a monthly basis and are fabulous ways to do the following:

1. Increase product knowledge
2. Preview new items in person that are coming out in future campaigns
3. Networking with other AVON Representatives

Out of all of these, I think that the most important is being able to gain experience from others in the room. Networking keeps you motivated about your business. Make no mistake...if you're an AVON Representative, you are in sales and you have one main goal and that is to earn money. If you treat it as a business, you'll do that. If you treat it as a hobby , then you'll make some money, just not a lot.

Attending the Sales Meeting allows you to expand your knowledge from things that others before you have tried and completed successfully yet gives you the opportunity to implement the idea utilizing your personality and skills. The free gifts, samples, and recognition offered at the sales meetings for those attending help too!

Think about it for a second. Networking occurs in all types of settings as does Advertising/Marketing. It even occurs when you're out to lunch or having coffee with a friend. How many times have you complimented someone on a lipstick shade or their skin? When such a situation arises, your conversational partner will inevitably share which product they're using.

The same is true when you converse with other business owners. When you have a conversation and exchange business successes, both parties learn at least one thing that is valuable and might be a usable piece of information which you can apply to the running of your AVON business.

One thing that I've always known from Direct Marketing. It is one of the first things I ever learned...

"If you want to be successful in your business, you should surround yourself with others who are successful."

What Customers Are Saying! Issue 1

My favorite product is the self tanning lotion! I have tried literally every product out there, and avon's is BY FAR the best! It adds a nice, even color- I am always getting compliments on my great tan. Plus, it less expensive than most products out there, and far less harmful than tanning beds. I don't even have to use it everyday- just whenever I want an extra "boost". The moment I put it on I can tell a difference- my legs are smoother, it smells great and the color is always even.

A Great Start to Your Skin Care Routine

Hello Customers & Readers who I hope will become customers! :)

When a company has been around as long as AVON, new products are constantly being researched and developed. Choosing skin care products can be kind of daunting because there are so many available on the market. Of one thing you can be sure, AVON almost always brings new products to market first and competitors soon follow with their version. A perfect example of this is when in 1992, AVON introduced the ANEW line of products, the very first products on the market containing alpha hydroxy. Alpha-hydroxy is a chemical by-product from fruit and milk sugars. Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) are used in skin care products to exfoliate dead skin cells and encourage them to produce more collagen.

AVON understands that every woman's skin is different and that each of us are concerned about the various ways our skin chooses to show signs of aging. For example, I have a few wrinkles, and at this point, I'm more concerned about my skin tone and firmness.
